“There is pleasure in the pathless woods. There is rapture on the lonely shore. There is society where none intrudes, by the deep sea and music in its roar. I love not man the less, but Nature more.”
–Lord Byron
I was born and raised on the Cornish coast, and although I've travelled to some beautiful countries I could never settle anywhere as comfortably as I do here in Cornwall, the most magical part of the world.
I spend hours exploring the coast line, strolling through woodland and wandering past hedgerows which I can't resist peering over and looking through. I never tire of the changing sky, the colours amongst the trees and the delights of wildlife.
My composite photography aims to draw together each element that has made me smile at a particular time in an attempt to encapsulate that memory forever. I liken my pebble art to the hours spent as a child making pictures out of the clouds, in the same way, I see people, creatures and flowers amongst all the different sizes, shapes and colours of the pebbles I find and the glass treasures I use in my art.
The escapism the natural world and my art offers me are two of my greatest saving graces in a world that is often confusing to me.
